Once again, the FDA Company dancers of Freestyle Dance Academy had the opportunity to thrill the residents of Doylestown, PA, who were getting into the Halloween spirit at Pumpkinfest 2019. CB Cares Pumpkinfest, an annual event hosted by the CB Cares Educational Foundation, brings together 20 of the best “pumpkin artists” in the Bucks County area, for a pumpkin carving contest to benefit drug & alcohol awareness programs in the Central Bucks school district.

CB Cares Pumpkinfest is hosted at the historic Moravian Pottery & Tile Works factory, outside of downtown Doylestown. These local carvers spend six to eight hours creating extravagant works of art, which are then voted on by the community members. The local Central Bucks schools also contribute pumpkins to the event, usually keeping with a common themed decided on by the high schools.

Alongside the pumpkin carving spectacle, the community event includes everything you need to get into the Fall spirit. Hot apple cider and pumpkin cannoli surround pumpkin viewers, along with plenty for the kids, including moon bounces & face painting. Pumpkinfest is rounded out with a day of live music & entertainment, including the Doylestown School of Rock, and the Doylestown Heat band. Freestyle Dance Academy was first asked to join in back in 2016, and the FDA Company is always too happy to get spooky for a great cause.

The dancers of Freestyle Dance Academy highlight the evening in Bucks County, before the pumpkin winners are announced, with a flashmob-style “Thriller” performance. In complete ghoulish attire, the FDA Performing Company dances Michael Jackson’s famous “Thriller” choreography, as dusk settles over the historic tile factory. CB Cares was originally inspired to invite the dance studio by seeing FDA’s “Thriller” music video on Youtube, which can be viewed here.
