Sammy Balkir ~ Central Bucks South Class of 2019

Meet Sammy…

Sammy joined the FDA family in 2016, and quickly became known for her versatility, technique, bright smile, and fierce work ethic. An FDA Company captain, she always works to push herself and her fellow dancers, while leaving her love of dance on every stage she steps upon. Meet Sammy!

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I will be attending Saint Joseph’s University and majoring in Business and Communications. I hope to get involved in many activities and clubs on campus and study abroad!

Do you have any plans that involve dance?

I plan on joining the Hip-Hop Hawks dance group and taking tap classes in the city with my roommate.

What is your best Freestyle Dance Academy memory?

My best FDA memory was performing at the Philadelphia Youth Dance Festival with the senior company. We had a blast taking master classes and bonding as a team…

What will you miss most about FDA?

The thing I will miss most about FDA is my Monday night classes with Colleen. My friend, coach, and twin all wrapped in one! In the words of Tony, “I’m so happy you’ve found each other!”

How long have you been dancing with FDA?

This is my third season with FDA, but I have been dancing for ten years! I have training in ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, pointe, contemporary, musical theater, and commercial styles of dance.

Best High School Memory:

I traveled to France with my high school for ten days last summer. My best friend and I went to the top of the Eiffel Tower together!

A Note from Sammy

I want to thank my family, friends, and everyone in the FDA family for the continuous love and support throughout my journey!

A Note from FDA:

Sammy, what a blessing it has been to have you under the FDA roof for the last three years. You are such a bright light, both on and off the stage. Your smile warms hearts and you set an incredible example of compassion & happiness for all, whether it be your younger siblings at home, your fellow dancers, or even those years your senior. Your work ethic, focus and passion for dance will be missed, and we can only hope others have recognized how lucky they have been to dance alongside you. We have felt immense pride watching you push yourself, and pass limits that even you were unsure of at first. You prove time and time again that you are relentless, and will fight to achieve any goal you set your mind to…do not ever lose that fire, as it will take you far in life. Your openness to new dance styles should carry over into an openness to experience new things, and allow you to continue to grow into the incredible young woman that we have only gotten to get a glimpse of today. You will always be welcome with open arms at FDA, and we hope you will keep in touch and visit often! ~ Love, your FDA Family
